Dougherty County - - Investigators continue to search for a teenager they believe shot another teen outside his Dougherty County home Wednesday night. The suspect's family members say he didn't mean to pull the trigger.

18 year old Brandon Parks was shot in the abdomen with a 9 millimeter pistol in the 33 hundred block of War Eagle Drive in the Pine Bluff Estates mobile home park.

He remains hospitalized in critical condition and hasn't been able to tell police what happened.

Investigators say 18 year old Kevoskie Ware fired the gun, then ran along with witness, 18 year old Emit Hunt. Hunt told police Thursday it was an accident.

Ware's family says the suspect and the victim grew up together and are friends.

His mother says after the shooting, her husband came out to help.

"He and Kevoskie put Brandon in the truck. Kevoskie was trying to get in the truck but my husband just sped off. Him and Emit were trying to get in the back of the truck, and when he sped off he took off trying to get him some help. Kevoskie and Emit tried to go through the cut they normally come through. That's where the running come from, when they say 'two suspects ran'. Kevoskie and Emit took off trying to catch my husband and they couldn't," says Christopher Ray.

Dougherty County Police issued a warrant for Ware and urge him to turn himself in. They charged him with aggravated assault but say that could change once he explains his side of the story.

Ware's mother says the two teens were playing with a gun they found outside.
