Shooting called accidental by witness

October 11, 2007

Albany -- An Albany teenager was shot in the stomach outside a house on the county's eastside. A witness to that shooting tells Investigators the gun went off by accident.

Brandon Parks was shot in the abdomen with a 9 millimeter pistol in the yard of a house in the 33 hundred block of War Eagle Drive Wednesday night.

Investigators have taken aggravated assault warrants for his 18 year old neighbor, Kevoskie Ware, who lives at the house where the shooting happened. Police say Ware and another 18 year old, Emit Hunt, ran after the shooting.

Late Thursday afternoon Hunt met with Police, and told them that the shooting was an accident. Investigators say they are still checking out what happened. Dougherty County Police Chief Don Cheek said "we have not had the opportunity to actually speak to the victim. So we don't know the details of why the shooting occurred. We know there were three people in close proximity of each other."

Police and people who live in that neighborhood say the three men involved in last night's shooting are friends. The gun used in the shooting was recovered by Investigators.

If you have any information about Kevoskie Ware, you are asked to call the Dougherty County Police at 430-6600.
