Valdosta - Remerton and Valdosta are creating alternative options for transportation.
They were chosen to be a part of the state's Signature Community Program aimed to help city leaders improve the quality of life for selected communities.
The program will offer planning and financial assistance for the city to implement and beautiful the Azalea Trail and the new pedestrian bike paths. "I think the signature community program designation brings the trail to a high level on the radar and its also puts us in the running for some accessory grants we could work on to support the trail," says Valdosta Mayor John Fretti.
Only 17 other communities in the state have been designated a signature community.
