Thieves target another car lot

October 10, 2007

Albany --  Thieves broke into an Albany car dealership for the second time in three nights, but neighbors scared the thieves away.

Edwards Motors on West Oglethorpe Boulevard was broken into again Tuesday night.

Sunday night thieves stole three cars left locked inside the dealership's shop. Last night neighbors heard banging coming from the dealership about 1:30, and saw a man taking rims through the back door.

The thief dropped the rims and ran when he saw the neighbors.  The burglar was described as 5 foot 10, slim, wearing blue basketball shorts and a jersey.  He got into the building by prying loose burglar bars over a window.

For the older generation, people remember the pre-flood, pre-Albany Mall days when downtown Albany was the place to shop and eat. Now, it's the younger generation that's pushing for a vibrant downtown.
