Albany - The one challenge that first year Dougherty High head coach Charles Flowers has in his first season with the Trojans is teaching them his system.
One thing that has helped Flowers is two open dates in three weeks.
Dougherty getting two bye weeks because they couldn't find anyone who would play them when the Trojans were putting together their schedule two years ago.
After a season opening loss on the road, Dougherty has won two straight at home.
That response to the season opening loss after last year's three win season has given Flowers a lot of confidence about his team's chances on the road Friday night against an Americus-Sumter team that has won four of their first five games.
Charles Flowers said "They have bought into the things we are trying to teach them. They had a good nucleus as we have said before. They have responded very well and we have been pleased with their efforts, their attitudes and their work ethic thus far."
Dougherty plays at Americus-Sumter Friday at 7:30 p.m..
