Valdosta State flying high

October 2, 2007

Valdosta -- The Valdosta State football team will look to run its record to 5-0 this week, as the Blazers travel to face Gulf South Conference foe Southern Arkansas Saturday.

The Muleriders have won just two of their first five games, but both those wins came in the conference.

Valdosta State is also 2-0 in the GSC, and have outscored opponents 169-33 this year.

Head coach David Dean says Southern Arkansas boosts a very physical defense, and the Blazers won't make the trip to Arkansas until the day of the game.

"We're going to leave here about 7:30 in the morning, and fly out there for a 2 o'clock game," says Dean.  "It's an early day for us, to go through all the check in at the airport, and so forth. The fortunate thing for us is we'll get back at a decent hour, instead of getting on a 12 or 13 hour bus ride."

Valdosta State plays at Southern Arkansas Saturday at two o-clock.
