Every team is rested for Valdosta

October 2, 2007

Valdosta -- The Valdosta Wildcats host another big Region 1-AAAAA game at Bazemore-Hyder Stadium Friday night.

The Cats opened up region play with a 24-6 win over Colquitt County last week.

Valdosta is now 4-1 on the season, 1-0 in the region, and take on Tift County Friday Night.

The Blue Devils got the best of Valdosta last season, winning by three points in Tifton.

Tift County had an open date last week, giving them two weeks to stew after the 32-13 loss at Thomas County Central, and Valdosta head coach Rick Tomberlin says facing a well-rested opponent will be a common occurrence for the Cats this season.

"They were so nice to give me a schedule where four of our region opponents have an open date the week before we play them," says Tomberlin. "I don't know what I did to deserve that. I'm lucky to be here, but we inherited the worst schedule I'm seen in my coaching career."
