Economic Development on rise in Albany

October 1, 2007

Albany - Economic development is on a roll in Dougherty County and leaders hope it doesn't slow down anytime soon. Just last week, Procter and Gamble announced the addition of a new line at the Albany plant which will add another 30 jobs.

Plus, Cooper Tire is now producing a new type of tire and in the process of hiring an additional 100 employees.

Economic Development VP Andrea Schruijer said, "That's part of our job in economic development, is to make sure that when our existing companies we help them grow and give them what they're looking for and partnering with them to help Albany succeed."

Another boom in jobs could come with the purchase of the Mazda dealership on Oglethorpe Boulevard. A buyer is considering purchasing that location.
