Fathers In the Classroom

September 28, 2007

Albany - - Some Albany school children are getting a little extra guidance from some college students who say they just want to give back.

Members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity at Albany State University started a program called Fathers in the Classroom.

Each month, they visit Jackson Heights Elementary school to offer themselves as positive role models.

"The average student doesn't see a strong male role model in their life so maybe just the chance of them seeing better makes them think they can do better," says member Quantavreus Cotton.

Students say they'll continue the program as long as they're invited to come help out.
