Albany -- All year long senior Wendell Pringle has been doing the little things for the Monroe football team.
This week, it's the little things (and one big return) that makes Pringle the Orthopaedic Associates Albany Area Player of the Week.
The senior made seven tackles in the contest, but it was his 65-yard kick-off return Saturday against Hancock Central that most helped turn the momentum in a one-point game into a 35-12 blowout.
Pringle says he's ready to step up his senior year. "It means a lot to me, because I didn't get a chance to shine last year like I wanted to, so this is my year," says Pringle.
Head coach Charles Truitt says, "Wendell's a great football player. He plays a lot of difference positions for us, always making plays for us, and last week was just an indicator of some of the small things he does each and every week for us."
Undefeated Monroe hosts 4-0 Thomas County Central Friday at 7:30 pm.
