Albany--  The Southwest Georgia Public Health Department is still looking for a few good men and women to help out with major emergencies.

This health district is forming a Regional Emergency Medical Corps and they're still looking for volunteers. The corps would help out during natural disasters and health emergencies.

For instance, if a flu pandemic broke out, MRC volunteers could dispense medication throughout the area.

"It'll be incredibly important because virtually any incident that may occur, we may need volunteers because we can't cover all the bases," said Emergency Preparedness Specialist and Coordinator Travis Donnelly.

No medical background is needed to volunteer but you will have to pass a background check and meet other criteria. To volunteer, visit www.southwestgeorgiapublichealth.org.  Scroll to the bottom and click on Preparedness.
