Americus- Progress continues on an interim hospital in Sumter County.
Work continues to construct the roof of Sumter Regional Hospital East. Once complete the facility will offer 76 inpatient beds, a fully operational Emergency Room, Labor and Delivery, and Surgery Suites.
Sumter Regional Hospital was destroyed in the March first tornado and will be torn down. The interim facility is scheduled to open in November and will serve as the hospital until a new facility is built.
