Tifton -- Police in Tifton are investigating the shooting death of a Tift County teen found dead inside a motel room.
Investigators believe that 16-year-old Larry Anthony Ballas accidentally shot and killed himself inside a room at the Budget Inn in Tifton where he and at least four other people were staying.
"Investigator's found that he was in the room with another gentleman and was talking to him about the gun, and basically turned the gun around and pointed it to his chest and pulled the trigger," said Tifton Police Lt. Porter Jackson.
It is unknown who owned the gun that was used in the shooting. We're told Ballas had previously attended school in Tift County, but was not currently enrolled.
Police do not believe foul play was involved. Ballas' body was sent to the crime lab for an autopsy.
