Albany-  Flu season is still several months away, but the Southwest Georgia Public Health District is already stockpiling flu vaccine.

The office has already received about 4,000 doses of the flu vaccine and is awaiting more. Whatever they get must be split up among the 14 county district and you don't want to get your flu shot too soon.

"Probably mid to late October, because you want that immunity to last you through February, through the spring," said Dr. Jacqueline Grant, Southwest Georgia Public Health Director.

The District Health Office says over the next several weeks they'll begin setting up their flu shot clinics.
