Tifton -- A Tifton teenager is dead after what is believed to be an accidental shooting. This makes the third person in Tift County to die from a gunshot wound within a week.

Police found 16 year-old Larry Anthony Ballas dead in a Budget Inn motel room Friday night.

Investigators say he may have accidentally shot himself.

A friend who was in the room at the time and also called the police told officers Ballas didn't mean to shoot himself.

The death is under investigation and is listed as an accidental shooting until proven otherwise.

Police say that alcohol was involved.

Ballas' body was sent to the G.B.I. crime lab for analysis.
