Albany -- A Monroe High School Honors student was gunned down outside his grandmother's house Wednesday night in a possible gang shooting.

17-year old Dearious Williams was shot in the head, back and chest outside this house at Gillespie Avenue and Elm Street.

Police say Williams and his two younger brothers were in the yard when the shooting started. The victim's aunt, Carol Williams, said " the next thing my nephew he walks in the house bleeding from the back and the face, and he collapsed on the floor."

Williams' brothers say two men with long dreadlocks fired the shots. While this neighborhood is known as a haven for gang activity, Williams' family says the Monroe marching band member is not in a gang.

He's recovering at an Albany hospital.
