Cairo-- Donald Towne, the fire chief in Kingsland, Georgia will take over at the Cairo Fire Department next month. Towne was chosen from a field of 24 applicants.
"We need to be number one in terms of what we do in terms of the quality in terms of the service we provide, and that's definitely the direction we want to go," said City Manager William Whitson.
Towne succeeds Farrell Siler who resigned in June.
