Albany - Sherwood Christian Academy's Gerry Smith is this week's Orthopaedic Associates Albany Area Player of the Week.
Dr. Paul Michas made the awards presentation to Gerry on Wednesday at Sherwood Christian Academy.
Gerry Smith scored four touchdowsn in the Eagles win over Randolph-Southern and also led the defense with 13 tackles. That Sherwood Christian victory has given the Eagles a boost of confidence heading into the heart of the season.
Gerry Smith said "Coach Knapp has instilled a confidence in the team that we haven't had in the past. And I think that is the biggest difference. We know we can play ball and we are ready to prove it."
Gerry Smith has 39 tackles in the Eagles first three games.
Sherwood Christian plays at Valwood Friday night.
