ASU ok with the big play

September 11, 2007

Albany -- The Albany State football team picked up a big win against Kentucky State in its conference opener, with the Rams getting big plays from the offense.

The Rams first touchdown of the game was a one-yard run, but was set up by a 36-yard pass.

Patrick Cuff kicked a 46-yard field goal.

Demetrice Johnson had perhaps the biggest play of the game, scampering 55 yards for a game-changing touchdown late in the first half.

ASU head coach Mike White says while they're looking to establish a solid running game, scoring on one play is always nice.

"You always want big plays," says White, "but you also want to be consistent driving the ball. Run the ball when you want to run it. We still got a long way to go, but we're getting there."

The Rams travel to face Stillman Saturday at 5pm.
