Athens -- The Georgia Bulldogs suffered a crushing defeat at home against South Carolina Saturday, but there was some good news coming out of the game.
Redshirt freshman Knowshon Moreno was a shining star at the running back position, taking on more of a role with senior Kregg Lumpkin breaking his thumb in the previous game against Oklahoma State.
Moreno is the state of New Jersey's all-time leading rusher, and posted over 1,800 yards and 43-touchdowns as a senior.
The freshman looked good carrying the load on Saturday, with a career high 14 carries for 104 yards.
Senior Thomas Brown had 12 attempts for 49 yards.
Moreno says it's a bit frustrating to get the yards and not get the win. "It feels ok, but it would feel way better if we came out with a win," says Moreno. "I don't care if I had 10 yards rushing, if we come out with a win, I'm happy. We're all happy as a team. Unfortunately we didn't come out with the win, but we're not going to keep our heads down."
The Bulldogs host West Carolina this week at 1 pm.
