ASU goes green

September 10, 2007

Albany -- Albany State students want to do their part to keep the environment clean.

"Go Green Week" kicked off Monday with a planting ceremony in front of the Student Union.

Students and the facilities management staff cleared a patch of grass in front of the building and planted flowers.

"Our ultimate goal is to get people to take pride in campus beautification," said graduate student, Chris James. "Not only just for this week, but beyond this week. Maybe they will do this on a consistent basis: pick-up trash around campus, don't liter. Help us to cut down the cost and attract some new people as well."

The week will continue with activities that promote walking instead of driving on campus, and conserving water.
