Valdosta State sets school record in win

September 8, 2007

Fort Valley -- To say the Valdosta State football team won its game against Fort Valley State Saturday wouldn't do the effort justice.

The Blazers crush, destroy, and obliterate the Wildcats one their home field, winning the match 69-0.

Yes, 69 to zero.

VSU set a new school record for margin of victory, erasing the old mark of 64-0 set in 1994.

Valdosta State was also one-point shy of the record 70 they scored against Delta State in 2001.

It's the first shutout for the Blazers in four years, and coach David Dean's team has now scored 110 points in his first two games.

Willie Copeland connected on 20 of 28 passes for three touchdowns, while Cedric Jones had 8 catches for 123 yards and two scores.

Valdosta State is off next week, and plays at Arkansas State September 22nd.
