Man beaten during robbery attempt

September 7, 2007

Dougherty County -- Dougherty County Police are again urging people to avoid a wooded area between a large mobile home park and a convenience store after a man was attacked there last night.

About 11:30 Thursday night Geovani Barrera told Investigators he was walking in a wooded area off Holly Drive when two men with a pistol demanded his money.

Barrera was walking from Paradise Village to a nearby store to use the phone when he was attacked. When he told the robbers he didn't have any money, the man with the gun hit Barrera in the face. He wasn't injured seriously.

There have been several robberies in recent years here, and Police warn people to avoid it, especially after dark.
