Sylvester -- MCLB's Marine Coprs band came to Sylvester Elementary to help students and teachers celebrate the school's standardized testing success.
The first Friday in September is recognized as Sylvester Elementary School Day. The city issued a proclamation last year because the school met Adequate Yearly Progress requirements, and they did it again this year.
Parents like Johnny Kirk crowded the cafeteria this morning to support their students. "I came out here to support my daughter Diamond Kirk. She works hard during the school year. She studies hard, she pays attention and I'm very proud of her. I really am."
WALB reporter Brent Solomon encouraged the students last school year, and returned Friday to congratulate them on passing the CRCT.
