Albany - The United Way of Southwest Georgia kicks off a $1.5-million campaign and needs your help. The United Way contributes to more than 30 programs in South Georgia.

President Dwayne Myles says contributions by employees at local businesses are critical to the success of the United Way. "What we ask people to do is give their fair share, an hour for one week, taken out of their paycheck and it's taken directly out of their paycheck," said Myles.  "At United Way, all of our staff members, even myself do that. We think we should be leaders as well. We do that to kind of set an example."

The United Way of Southwest Georgia serves 12 counties.
