Flowery Branch -- Former Westover football standout Kurt Quarterman received some disappointing news from the Falcons over the weekend, as the Albany-native found out he did not make the team.
The news was much better for Quarterman Monday, though, as he's been placed on Atlanta's eight-man practice squad.
The 6-foot-5, 348-pound offensive lineman is looking to make the team as an undrafted free-agent, after playing at Louisville.
Quarterman's head coach in college is now his head coach in the pro's, as Bobby Petrino left the Cardinals to take over the Falcons.
Practice squad players practice alongside regular roster players during the week, but they aren't allowed to play in actual games.
Quarterman will retain his free-agent status, and could sign with another team if he is not promoted to the Falcons.
