The Monroe football team had no problems in its first game of the season Saturday, as the Tornados beat Terrell County 42-6.
Monroe blocked a Greewave punt for a touchdown on their first possession, and scored on a 51-yard pass from Sherman Stephens to Tim Jackson on their first offensive play.
Three Friday night games were rained out and played Saturday morning, including Thomasville and Thomas County Central.
The Yellow Jackets beat the Bulldogs for the 8th straight year, shutting down the Thomasville offense for a 28-7 win.
Tift County went on the road at Brooks County for a 16-7 win.
The Blue Devils host South Forsyth next week.
Valdosta flew in Jordan from Utah for the second straight year for their opening game of the season.
Looking to bounce back from last years 1-9 record, the Wildcats start off strong for a 23-21 win. They host Collins Hill next week
