Murder suspect is back in Albany

August 31, 2007

Albany -- An Albany murder suspect caught last week in Florida is on his way back to Georgia.

Albany Police refuse to talk about it, but the Franklin County, Florida Sheriff confirms that 26-year-old Earnest Sims waived extradition Friday. Sheriff Mike Mock said his deputies were delivering Sims to Albany police at the state line Friday afternoon.

Sims is charged with fatally stabbing his girlfriend, Jessica Acres, at their Crescent Drive home last Wednesday night.

He then fled to Florida and stabbed himself during a standoff with authorities there. He was released from a Tallahassee hospital Thursday.
