Albany - The South Georgia Peanuts are ready for the South Coast League championship series that starts Friday night in Macon.
The Peanuts ended the regular season with a thrilling ten inning, 8-6 win in the second game of their doubleheader with Bradenton Wednesday.
Doc Brooks sent it into extra innings with a pinch hit three run homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning.
That homerun also helped Brooks capture the first ever South Coast League batting title with a.349 batting average.
Doc Brooks said "That is something you shoot for. I am thankful to my teammates that I have and the teammates I have. I thank them for being there for me during the season."
Peanuts manager Wally Backman says Dumas Garcia will start game one of the South Coast League championship series friday night in Macon and Jerome Gamble will pitch game two Saturady night in Albany.
