Albany commissioners pass 911 agreement, alcohol resolution

August 28, 2007

Albany--  Fridays on the Flint will now officially float in Albany.

Albany Tomorrow will host the outdoor events with music on the first Friday of every month, starting next week. Tuesday night, city commissioners agreed to allow outdoor alcohol consumption at the events.

You must buy the drinks from an establishment licensed to sell alcohol, show ID and wear a wristband. The drinks must also be in an opaque plastic cup or styrofoam.

City, county and Marine base emergency workers now have an agreement in writing that will guarantee 9-1-1 service continues even if disaster strikes.

Albany city commissioners passed a resolution that sets up a partnership between Albany-Dougherty Emergency Management and MCLB. If power goes out at either emergency call center, the other will take all the calls.

They've had an informal agreement for years  but they needed to make it official.
