Whigham --  A 12-year-old Grady County boy was hit by a car while he was walking to school Tuesday morning.

Christopher Jamerson was walking along Jowers Road in Whigham when troopers say the passenger side mirror of an SUV struck him in the head.

"The trooper is investigating to determine whether the child was standing near the edge of the roadway or make a determination if the child had walked out into the road."  said GSP Post 12 Commander Sgt. Ronald Warren.

Jamerson is hospitalized in Tallahassee. The driver of the SUV, Samantha Harrell, reportedly a teacher at the same school, has not been charged.
