Tifton- Unable to find a buyer, Alcoa announced Monday it will close Tifton Aluminum by the end of October.
Two other soft alloy extrusion facilities in Warren, Ohio and Plant City Florida were sold to Golden Aluminum, but they weren't interested in the Tifton facility.
The Tifton plant employs about 200 workers who were notified of the closure Monday.
Impacted salaried employees will be offered severance and work assistance programs. A bargaining unit is expected to work with union employees.
