Pearson - The Superintendent of the Atkinson County Board of Education was fired last night.
Dr. Paul Jones says it came as a shock and the board fired him without giving a cause but as stipulated in his contract, gave him six months severance pay.
He says there has been some disagreements between board members since some positions recently changed.
Jones joined the board 13 months ago and signed a three year contract.
The school system has now had five different superintendents in the last five years.
