East Point, Florida --  The Albany Police Department reports that the man they were looking for in connection with the brutal murder of the mother of his children is now in custody.

Earnest Sims III was arrested by authorities in East Point, Florida after a brief standoff Thursday evening.

Kenn Singleton of APD said in a press release that Simms stabbed himself multiple times, and was air lifted to a hospital in Tallahassee, where he is now. It is not known how serious the wounds are.

APD wanted Sims for the Wednesday night stabbing death of the mother of his three children, 24-year-old Jessica Acres.

Witnesses say Sims killed her while she held the couple's seven-month-old child in her arms.

More details to follow as we get them.
