Albany--An east Albany man is dead after an early morning fire inside his home on 110 Collins Street.

The fire started around 3:40 AM.  Minutes after receiving the initial call the Albany Fire Department arrived on the scene to find a bedroom completely engulfed in flames.

It was in that bedroom that firefighters found the body of the man living there. Albany police and a crime scene unit arrived on the scene shortly after.

"Of course, the coroner is here, and the police are here. And the investigation, we will persue it at this point. That's as much as I really know at this point," says batallion chief, James Sanders with the Albany Fire Department.

Crime scene tape has been placed around the house. Firefighters aren't sure how the fire started yet. They say the fire was pretty much contained to that one bedroom, and it took them about fifteen minutes to put out.

Right now police are not releasing the name of the man killed in the fire and won't say if foul play is suspected.
