Americus --  Another boost came Thursday for the Sumter County economy devastated by that March 1st tornado.   Americus Lowe's officially opened a new ninety-four thousand square foot store on Highway 280.

Former President Jimmy Carter and Americus Mayor Barry Blount took part in a ceremonial board cutting to open the $12 million facility that will create more than 120 jobs.

Lowes officials say they're happy to help Americus rebuild.   "The thing is what we have here is we want to be sure that we become the first choice for home improvement selection for all of the customers here in Americus," Mike Brown, Vice President of Store Operations.

Lowe's also donated one-thousand dollars to Habitat for Humanity to help with rebuilding efforts in the city Americus.
