Albany - The adage defense wins championships certainly was proven true last year by the Albany State football team.
The Rams won a fourth straight conference title even though they averaged just over two touchdowns a game.
And some of those points were scored by the defense.
The offensive struggles were understandable with the Rams juggling two new quarterbacks and trying to find someone on the backfield to carry the football.
It took most of the season but the Rams offense was moving the football and producing points in their final two games.
This year Kisan Flakes is the quarterback at Albany State and he says he is very comfortable under center with a year of experience.
Kisan Flakes said "I feel more comfortable being at the helm. I am more relaxed. I will be more relaxed on the field and make more plays and manage the game."
Albany State opens the season at home Saturday night at six o'clock against North Carolina .
