Albany city officials offer new deal to Quail Unlimited

August 22, 2007

Albany - Quail Unlimited is now in negotiations with the city about fees being charged by the Albany Civic Center.

After the city revised its civic center rate structure, Quail Unlimited organizers said they were thinking about moving their event out of town.

But a city manager's spokesman said they complained about a proposed contract without even trying to negotiate it. Wes Smith says while the civic center's goal is to lower its base operational expenses for event, they will negotiate with Quail Unlimited.

Assistant City Manager Wes Smith said "the fact that they have had the same deal for 20 years, even though it should have changed. We can't forget what those numbers were. Yes, we need increases and we think that is the proper thing. But we need to accommodate them as well. "

The city has agreed to waive the five thousand dollar deposit and reduce the cost of hanging banners.
