Albany -- A Dougherty Superior Court Judge is appointed to a Governor's Commission studying ways to help Georgia's mentally ill and substance abusers rather than just sending them to jail.
Judge Stephen Goss was appointed to the Mental Health Service Delivery Commission by Governor Sonny Perdue. The commission will study ways to improve mental health and substance abuse treatment, while relieving jail overcrowding.
Goss started a similar court program in Dougherty County in 2002.
