Local movie makers set for another project

August 20, 2007

Albany -- Two South Georgia based movies did so well, their writers plan to roll out a new movie in the fall.

Facing the Giants and Flywheel were both created by writers from Sherwood Baptist Church. Facing the Giants was made on just a $100,000 budget, but it grossed $10 million in box office sales.

Earlier this year, it was released on DVD and those sales were higher than the movie's writers expected.

Sherwood's Executive Pastor Jim McBride says that the purpose of the movies wasn't to make money, but to further the church's mission of stewardship.

Flywheel is being re-mastered and re-released in November. Sherwood has another movie in the works called Fireproof.

That movie also centers around having faith to get through difficult situations.
