Douglas -- Three inmates who escaped from the Coffee County Jail early Friday morning are back behind bars Monday.

19-year-old Brandon Vilvert and 27-year-old Erick Lavone Jones were caught over the weekend by authorities in Jacksonville, Florida.

A third escapee, 22-year old Brandon Smith was picked up a few hours after his escape.

An internal investigation is ongoing into how two medium security doors in the jail were left slightly ajar Friday morning.

Jones and Vilvert are awaiting extradition back to Georgia. Jones was awaiting trial on burglary charges. Vilvert was in jail on several charges including car theft and statutory rape.
