Thomasville--  Thousands of unused bags of ice FEMA ordered after Katrina were set outside to melt this morning in the south Georgia heat.

Those bags were stored at Americold in Thomasville, but hundreds of thousands more bags had the same fate at twenty-one other sites around the country.

The reason for the disposal?  FEMA says after two years of storage, the ice is potentially unfit for human consumption.
