Thomasville-- Today's luncheon was the start of the Alzheimer's Association's largest fundraiser.

Thomasville's event this year is in memory of a beloved doctor, Jim Neill, who was a victim of Alzheimers.  His wife Betty Clair says raising awareness and money through this walk every year is vital to finding a cure.

"It is dependent on the people who have had an experience with Alzheimer's for the most part because there the people who realize what a terrible disease it is," says Neill.

More than 2,000 people just in Thomas county suffer from Alzheimers. This year's walk will be held at southwest Georgia Tech in Thomasville on October 20th.
