Valdosta - Valdosta Mayor John Fretti will run for re-election.

Fretti says during his term, the city has received a record number of federal grants totaling over 11 million dollars, allowing them more money in the budget to spend on other projects.

He also says the city has seen some explosive growth since he's taken office as well as an increase in jobs and hopes to continue that mission four four more years.

"We think it's a critical time in our economy where we have so many hits from national retailers and developers that we want to continue to put forward this professionalism and pro-growth but on a controlled front," Mayor Fretti says.

Fretti says other projects he'd like to continue is re-routing traffic through downtown and downtown revitalization.
