Dougherty looking to bloom in 2007

August 13, 2007

Albany -- The Dougherty football team suffered through a disappointing season last year.

After playing for the state title in 2005, the Trojans had just one region win last season, and three overall.

Dougherty is looking to bounce back this season, with Charles Flowers taking over as the new head coach.

While the heat has caused problems for every team, it can be especially difficult for a new head coach trying to learn his players.

Flowers was able to coach the team during spring practice, and says the head-start has been a big help.

"Being able to get here during the spring, and learning the guys, learning the system, finding some things out, and using that as an evaluation tool to go into the season was fantastic for us," Flowers says.

The Trojans open up the season on the road August 31st at Northeast Macon.
