Lowndes County - Due to a conflict in schedule, Lowndes County Sheriff Ashley Paulk is now acting sheriff in Berrien County as well.
Former Sheriff Jerry Brogdon resigned Friday after pleading guilty to a federal gun charge.
Coroner Bob Lovein was expected to sit in until a special election was held but because of some schedule conflicts won't be able to do so until the end of the month.
Until he's sworn in on August 24, Paulk will take on the extra duties.
The sheriff's department says a special election is set to be held September 18th.
Brogdon was sheriff in Berrien County for 22 years.
