Albany - The Special Olympics Georgia Fall Games are just two months away, and your help is needed to make this years games a success. To date, only about 100 of the 1,000 volunteers needed have signed up to participate in the games.

At least $50,000 in donations is also needed, but just under half of that has been raised so far.

Global Messenger Billy Griner has participated in the games since 1976. "It helps the athletes get stronger and better," he said.  He's now a Global Messenger for the Olympics.

When asked why should people come out and support the athletes? He said, "Because it's a great organization."

Special Events Coordinator Kristin Caso said, "Athletes who participate in Special Olympics Georgia have better socialization skills, they're able to hold down jobs better. It just improves their lives greatly."

Your money, time and support are greatly needed by Special Olympics Georgia.
