Valdosta - A rebuilding season left two time state champion Lowndes out of the playoffs last year.
But it looks like the rebuilding job is complete and the Vikings are ready to pillage not only Region 1-AAAAA but also the state.
Head coach Randy McPherson says he has 16 or 17 players who started at some point last year back this season.
That includes senior running back Darriet Perry who should leave Lowndes as the Vikings leading rusher.
The quarterback job is up for grabs with Christian Glisson and Milheil Padgett among those in the battle.
The defense will also be improved with Gerald Demps and Greg Reid leading the secondary and Desmond Miller anchoring the front line.
The experience and the desire to get back into the state playoffs should make for a winning combination for the Vikings.
Randy McPherson said "The motivation is to best you can do. These kids know they are in a program and a town where they are expected to pour it all out. That is the movtiation. They want to represent this community the best they can."
Lowndes opens the season at home August 31st against Harrison.
