Westover has the skills

August 7, 2007

Albany --Westover football coach Jeff Caldwell is looking for big results from the Patriots heading into his fourth season at the school.

Caldwell saying the team has plenty of depth at the skill positions, with quarterbacks and running backs going three deep.

The coach says while the strength of last years team was the line, the big guys will be young this season.

The Patriots were 4-1 headed into Region play last season, before dropping five-straight to end the year.

Westover is looking for improved results in 2007, and after not being able to put on the pads and hit the entire summer, coach Caldwell says the first week in full pads is always filled with a lot of contact.

"It's a pretty physical time," says Caldwell. "Lot of fundamentals. Lot of tackling. Lot of blocking, and that type of thing. You're trying to find folks that are going to hit folks. That's what football is all about."

Westover opens the season August 31st at Lee County.
