Albany  -- Temporary air conditioners were installed at Lake Park Elementary School in Albany Tuesday, to help keep students cool while they wait on a delayed unit.

Two of these window unit air conditioners were installed in each of the rooms on the kindergarten hall at Lake Park.  The 9000 BTU units are vented through the windows, to cool and de-humidify the rooms.

The permanent air conditioning unit for that hall was delayed by the manufacturer. Tuesday the students were taken to other air conditioned rooms in the school while the temporary units were installed. Now they will test them to make sure the A.C. Units are up battling the summer heat.

Principal Mrs. Catherine Whitfield said "If these work like we think they will, and we've been told they'll do just fine. Then we will go back to our normal setup on Thursday."

The permanent hall unit air conditioner is expected to be delivered Monday, and to be installed and working by the end of the week.
